Alonaki Cottage is certainly a unique accommodation. This is a small stone and wooden house located in the agricultural outskirts of the traditional village of Apollonia, in the center of the island, 900m from the town center and 5km from the nearest beach. area is peacefull and quiet and has small farms, grazing animals, not to mention spectacular sunsets.
The traditional old cottage has stone floors and timber ceilings and was built over 100 years and is a prime example of Cycladic architecture with rounded walls, a fireplace and decorative nooks and crannies built into the walls. In addition, the house has been artistically and beautifully furnished and decorated. The kitchen has two burners, a fridge, sink, oven and kitchen table.
The bathroom is located off thekitchen. The main bedroom is in a slightly separate building and has a salon attached to it with a single bed and sitting chairs.
Another small bedroom with a single bed is through an outdoor passage. The grounds are large with a panoramic view of a green valley and Apollonia’s white buildings and blue domed churches. On the grounds is one of Sifnos’ many ancient stone towers, plus two areas for sitting and enjoying the sunset, or having your meals outdoors. The cottage is only accessible by a dirt path with some marble stairs, about a three minutes walk, some of it uphill, from the car road. Please note that it is impossible to drive a car or motorbike to the cottage’s door.
