This house is situated high at the top of the village on the main ring road which skirts the back of town. It is included in a gated complex of four individual houses of similar design. It's easy access means that parking is easily found on the road near the stairway leading down to the entrance gate, or alternatively, there is a miriad of cobbled narrow stairways leading by foot to the waterfront which can be reached in approximately ten minutes. It is surrounded on one side by the white washed, traditional houses of the town, and on the other by an open empty area of hillside which gives it a private feel even though it is in town. Entering the house into the light and airy open-plan living room/kitchen you instantly feel a comfortable, simple Greek atmosphere. With traditional slate stone floors, corner fireplace, large windows and comfortable seating around an ample table in the sitting room, it is a perfect space for reading, relaxing or enjoying your meals. Just outside the front entrance lies a sheltered lower patio, furnished with a simple Greek table and chairs which is also an ideal space for outdoor dining and appreciating the open-air living which is so much a part of Greece. One WC/shower room is located on the main floor and the other is en-suite on the ground floor level where you find a spacious sleeping room for up to three persons. It's lower level position provides a cool relief from the hot summer sun and is equipped with a sizable closet on one wall in addition to one double bed and one twin bed. The best feature of the house though, is the top floor master bedroom, again comfortable and airy with open-beamed ceiling and fresh summer breezes. This double bedded room is tastefully decorated with vanity area and ample closet space. Stepping through the French doors brings you out to your own private, sun-filled terrace with sweeping views over the red-tiled roofs to the sea and the neighbouring island of Alonissos in the distance. Enjoy your morning coffee or evening glass of retsina with these stunning views of the distant olive-clad hillsides surrounding the town and the bustling harbour below. The house is perfect for one or two couples, or for families. It's open plan to each bedroom level offers privacy in their distance from each other. The patio out the front door offers an ideal place for children to play within close range of their parents. Due to its central location, there are plenty of amenities nearby. By walking about five minutes in either direction from the house you will find tavernas along the ring road. Just across the street is a small mini-market offering most of your essentials. Of course a five minute walk down through the town brings you to its full array of tavernas specialising in local recipes and delicacies as well as some international cuisine. Along the narrow, picturesque streets of town nearer the waterfront, you will also find shops with local specialties and a good selection of cafes. The small beach of Glyfoneri at the bay of Agios Konstantinos can be reached in approximately 25 minutes walk from the house. There is a selection of local tavernas along the road down to the beach with stunning views to the bay and beyond. |
